Start with the university, and we’ll map the route
South Africa
Meet the USAf subject and language rules, sit the NBTs where they’re required, and A Levels will open every South African university door.
United Kingdom
UK offers come through UCAS on predicted grades, and we provide the predicted grades and references that carry the application.
United States
US universities review the whole file, and A Levels often earn course credit, sometimes a term or more of it.
South Africa in detail
| USAf route | What it requires |
|---|---|
| A Level | 5-subject route | Five subjects across IGCSE and A Level meeting the group rules, with at least two at A Level |
| A Level | 4-subject route | Four subjects with at least three at A Level, meeting the group rules |
| AS route | A broader board of AS subjects meeting the same group and language rules |
Our rule of thumb: English, a second language and Maths at IGCSE at grade C or better, then any three A Levels. Package learners meet it automatically. The two-language rule is covered by the compulsory core; NBTs apply for some programmes.
The UK in detail
| Grade | A Level points | AS points |
|---|---|---|
| A* | 56 | – |
| A | 48 | 20 |
| B | 40 | 16 |
| C | 32 | 12 |
| D | 24 | 10 |
| E | 16 | 6 |
Worked example: an AAB offer equals 48 + 48 + 40 = 136 UCAS points. Deadlines: mid-October for Oxbridge and medicine; end of January for most. Admissions tests apply where relevant.
The US in detail
The file that gets read: grades, essays, activities, references, and test scores where required.
Cambridge advantages: A Levels often convert to course credit, and Cambridge English supports proficiency requirements.
Timelines run a year ahead: applications open in August, most decisions land between December and April.
Two structural notes: medicine and law are postgraduate in the US, and the major is declared later, so the first degree keeps doors open.
Three worked examples
IGCSE core at C or better, this A Level trio at strong grades, the USAf exemption and NBTs.
UCAS application on predicted grades, references from ROS, offers typically AAB to A*A*A.
Holistic review, a portfolio of projects and clubs alongside grades, likely course credit for A Levels.
Plan it yourself.
Guidance, not a promise. Requirements belong to universities and change. Every plan is confirmed with the Head of Department at placement.
Route: the USAf exemption. English, a second language and Maths at IGCSE at grade C or better, then this A Level board. Package learners meet the language rule automatically. NBTs may apply.
This is guidance rather than a promise. Universities set their own requirements and those change, so we confirm every plan with the Head of Department.
